Freya Abbott Ferguson
This is a brand new venture that grew out of a wonderful thing called the ‘Lal Waterson project’ (see historical section).
Jude and Neil (Chumbawamba - www.chumba.com) had kindly said they would help promote my first solo CD Female Smuggler . The result pleased us all but I wanted more and it seemed a better idea to do it formally as a trio i.e. Freya Abbott Ferguson.
It is accidental that the initials spell FAF (Folk Against Fascisim) but it is something we all subscribe to. The new CD was described in fRoots as ‘A Marriage made in musical heaven’.
We carry on singing the songs of Lal Waterson, adding more to the original project's repertoire and we also feature songs from fellow co-operative members, Boff Whalley and Ray Hearne, written specially for us, as well as my own songs which have been described as ‘typically incisive yet wickedly simple in expression’. Anything that uses the word wicked in relation to me goes down well.
So, check out ‘Get Well Soon’. We have included some snippets here, and try and catch us live ... apparently we sound like a really reeeeely big band even though there’s only 3 of us and the humour will leave you moist....around the eyes of course.
